Two decades ago, WORLDBEX Services International (WSI) revved up the local automotive scene with the very first Manila International Auto Show (MIAS)—and what a ride it’s been! Since its humble beginnings in 2005, MIAS has grown into the ultimate pit stop for car enthusiasts, industry leaders, and adrenaline junkies who live life in the fast lane.
Driving the Future: 20 Years of Automotive Evolution
The automotive industry has come a long way in the past 20 years, and the Philippines has kept pace, making its mark in vehicle assembly and component manufacturing for some of the biggest global brands. The East Asian giants—Japan, South Korea, and Germany—have dominated the innovation race, with Japan leading the pack at 57.75% of all automotive patents, followed by South Korea (16.61%) and Germany (12.28%).
But the Philippines isn’t just along for the ride—it’s accelerating toward the future. With the rise of AI-assisted self-driving cars and smarter, more efficient vehicles, the country is embracing a new era of innovation and automation. And leading the charge? MIAS 2025, where the next wave of automotive breakthroughs will take center stage.
From Vision to Reality: The MIAS Legacy
MIAS wasn’t built overnight. It all started in 2005, when motoring writers Jason K. Ang, Ulysses K. Ang, and Alvin Uy pitched an ambitious idea to WSI Chairman Joseph Ang—a world-class, industry-driven auto show that would celebrate the passion, creativity, and ingenuity of the Philippine automotive industry.
Jason Ang, now a co-organizer of MIAS, recalls: “We (the writers) took inspiration from attending international auto shows and aimed to bring an equivalent world-class experience for the Philippine auto buyers and enthusiasts.”
Joseph Ang didn’t just greenlight the idea—he turned it into a legacy, inspired by his late father, a dedicated car dealer who helped shape the local automotive industry. And so, in April 2005, the first-ever MIAS roared to life, marking the beginning of a motoring revolution in the Philippines.
MIAS 2025: A Grand Celebration of Automotive Excellence
Since its inception, MIAS has earned widespread recognition from global car manufacturers and has become the preferred venue for launching new models and unveiling the latest innovations. Over the years, it has gained the support of key motoring organizations, including the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), Tuason Racing School (TRS), and Car Awards Group Inc. (CAGI). The upcoming MIAS 2025 promises to be the most spectacular edition yet, with more than ninety exhibitors and over two hundred vehicles set to be displayed. Some of the world’s biggest automotive brands will take center stage, including Aion, BAIC, BYD, Changan, Chery, Foton, GAC, Great Wall Motors, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jetour, Jaecoo, KIA, Lynk & Co., MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Omoda, Seres, Suzuki, Vinfast, and Volvo. These companies are ready to showcase their latest models, cutting-edge technologies, and groundbreaking innovations that define the future of mobility. This year’s event is made possible through the support of major sponsors, including BPI Auto Loans, Petron, and Shell, further reinforcing MIAS’s commitment to delivering a world-class experience.
As MIAS marks its 20th year, it continues to celebrate the passion, innovation, and connections that have shaped the automotive industry.
