SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation, the country’s official importer and distributor of BMW cars, has officially announced the updated version of their 2-Series Lineup—the 218i Coupé M Sport and the M240i xDrive Coupé.

According to BMW PH, the latest generation of the BMW 2 Series is a modern interpretation of the iconic 2002 model, which marked the brand’s first foray into introducing high-performance iterations of modern coupés. The two compact Coupé offers a fresh, youthful, extrovert aura matched by thoroughly engineered and perfectly balanced driving attributes, which only means pure fun.

So what can we expect with the 218i Coupé M Sport?

Engine-wise, the 218i Coupé M Sport is powered by a BMW TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter In-line 4-cylinder engine matted with an 8-speed Steptronic Automatic transmission with Gearshift Paddles that provides a maximum output of 156 horsepower and 250 Newton meter of peak torque.

On the surface, this new variant adopts a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout to reflect the character of a genuine sports car. The exterior dimensions of The 2 allow for excellent driving dynamics. The model’s surfaces and dynamic lines follow the brand’s new design language and represent an expression of pure driving pleasure. 

The BMW kidney grille is horizontal in design and features vertically arranged active air flaps at its heart in place of the classical bars. The active air flaps open electrically when the engine behind the scenes has an increased need for cooling air. These are complemented by standard-fitted full-LED headlights, which are positioned in the outer reaches of the front end and have a single-unit, circular design as inspired by the previous iterations of this model. The 218i Coupé M Sport includes exterior details highlighting its sporty profile with an M Aerodynamic Package, M High Gloss Shadow Line, M Sport Suspension, M Rear Spoiler, and 18-inch M Light alloy wheel Double-spoke Style 848 M Bicolour with mixed tires.

Inside, the vehicle still features a driver-focused cockpit design and a modern control panel on the center console to highlight the sporty atmosphere inside. Sport Seats and a BMW M leather steering wheel highlighted by the gear shift paddles are standard and add to the engaging driving experience.

THE BMW M240i xDRIVE COUPÉ. The BMW M240i xDrive Coupé comes complete with the hallmark design features of The 2 but takes on a number of performance enhancements needed to become an exciting pocket rocket. 

Powered by the legendary B58 engine, the M240i xDrive Coupé presents itself as a track-ready automobile. It runs on a BMW TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter In-line 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 374 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It is mated to a ZF 8-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. This allows the M240i xDrive Coupé proudly accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. 

The rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive system, combined with the Adaptive M Suspension and BMW M Sport Differential, enable the M240i xDrive Coupé to exhibit razor-sharp handling with a very high level of grip, be it on city roads or the racetrack.
