Rarely do we see an SUV that defines the pinnacle of luxury. The British car brand Rolls Royce is no stranger in producing the most expensive cars in the world. Their recent Philippine launched of full-sized luxury car, the Cullinan, is the first-ever SUV of Rolls Royce that symbolizes the opulence of ultimate luxury.

And why not? With a staggering price tag of P53-million, the Rolls Royce Cullinan is one heck mother-of-all-luxury SUVs; and not only SUV, a pinnacle of four-wheel motion, where you can go-anywhere in an effortless off-road journey.

SYMBOL OF LUXURY

Named after the world’s largest diamond in Africa, the Cullinan  underpinned a platform called the “Architecture of Luxury” wholly unique to the brand, which accords the car a level of performance, comfort and refinement never before seen in the SUV segment.

Outside, the Cullinan possesses a bold, functional and dynamic design language intended to convey a spirit as adventurous as the journeys it will take. For instance, the Pantheon grille sits on a chamfered edge, protruding forward into unknown terrain, all the while guided by the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy. The deep-set laser headlights and brow-shaped LEDs cast up to 600m into the night, ensuring every foray is made with maximum visibility.

In terms of height, the Cullinan reaches 1,836mm, a height accentuated by a large glass to metal ratio as seen from the side. The car’s 22-inch wheels gives a beautiful visual balance, whilst the depth of the side profile is optically broken up by a most authentic and honest piece of metal, like a Saxon spear, that flies down the lower door surface and gives the whole side of the car a beautiful sense of tension.

SPACE AVALANCHE

Here’s the good news: Cullinan comes with two interior options. With space for three passengers in the rear, the 5-seater ‘Lounge’ seating version is perfect for Filipino families. The rear seats fold down electronically either completely, creating a flat load area or in a 2/3 and 1/3 split, increasing practicality even further. Rear passengers can still travel with a long load, or use the carpeted seat back as an occasional table on which to rest their precious personal items.

The rear compartment or boot area offers a standard 560 liters of space, growing to 600 with the parcel shelf removed. With both rear seats folded, Cullinan offers a loading length of 2245 mm and load capacity of 1930 liters, one of the largest in the luxury SUV segment.

Meanwhile, the 4-seater version of Cullinan, also known as the Individual Seat configuration, provides for the highest level of luxury in the SUV segment.

POWERFUL ENGINE

Engine-wise, it’s like a wolf in sheep’s luxurious clothing. It has a powerful 6.7-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 563-horsepower at 5,000 rpm. All are matted at 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Underneath Cullinan is the Rolls-Royce’s unique all-aluminium architecture called the ‘Architecture of Luxury”, delivering extraordinary body stiffness for exceptional ‘best-in-class’ performance on rough terrain, whilst maintaining the ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ that Rolls-Royce is famous for.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has achieved the highest annual sales in the marque’s 115-year history, with 4,107 cars delivered to customers in over 50 countries around the world in 2018, and continues to generate a positive contribution to its shareholder, the BMW Group.
