This is not the first time that a Building Attendant employee from Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has surrendered and returned a personal items containing a huge chunk of dollar cash found at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Thirty-years old Jeffrey Almoguerra, an employee of Philcare Manpower Services, proved that the culture of honesty still exist at the Philippine airport. This when Almoguerra found an envelope containing a huge significant amount of US dollar bills at the vicinity of a foreign exchange counter.
The honest janitor, who lives in Parañaque City with two of his children, reported immediately the matter to a nearby security guard who accompanied him to the MIAA Lost and Found Section where the envelope was turned over.
Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal takes pride in this display of honesty, and has directed for Almoguerra’s inclusion in the roster of award recipients for MIAA’s February flag raising ceremony.
“We do this on purpose because we want everyone in the MIAA organization to emulate simple yet noble deeds such as what Mr. Almoguerra exhibited. I urge all our service contractors to also recognize their employees for their simple achievements and take care of them because they set good examples. We want goodness and honesty to become viral in NAIA,” explained Monreal.
With all those negative news about the “Tanim Bala” extortion scheme, which occurs at PH airport, it is indeed very timely that an ordinary contractual Janitor employee would simply lift us from the hellish image of “worst airport” to most “trusted airport” across the globe.
