The local unit of Japan’s Isuzu Motors Ltd continues its efforts to support the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) to bring safer, more efficient, more convenient, and more environmentally sustainable transport systems to the Filipinos.
According to Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), the company officially turned over five Isuzu QKR Class 3 modernized public utility vehicles (PUVs) to the New Bayambang UV Express Transport Corporation. Ideal for longer routes, the front facing units will ply the roads of Bayambang – Dagupan via Malasiqui. Founded and organized by Roy Gutierrez and Ponciano Valendiano Jr., the organization aims to improve the experience of the riding public and maintain the quality of transportation vehicles for its members.
The simple turnover ceremony was held at the Bayambang Town Plaza, with IPC officials led by its President Hajime Koso, as well as Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino, Bayambang Mayor Cezar Quiambao, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Regional Director Nasrudin Talipasan in attendance. The turn-over was made possible through the cooperation of Isuzu Pangasinan.
The activity marked the resumption of a series of turnovers of modernized PUVs from IPC to the various transport groups and cooperatives across the country, after the government eased the community quarantine restrictions that aimed to stem the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his remarks during the ceremony, Koso reiterated the enduring partnership between Filipinos and the Isuzu brand.
“It cannot be denied that Isuzu has created a reliable partnership between Filipino drivers and transport cooperatives over the years. Isuzu has not only achieved its 300,000th sales milestone in 2020, but also continued its legacy of having these Isuzu PUVs run the public roads under the government’s PUV modernization program. Isuzu PUVs are truly made by Filipinos for Filipinos, ‘Gawang Pilipino, Para sa Pilipino’. We hope that these units will be able to provide its usual durability, comfort, and safety for your drivers and passengers. Together we will overcome the challenges of this pandemic and look towards a brighter future for everyone.”
