It’s just the first quarter of the year and most car manufacturers are busy with their product launches, eyeing to start a positive note despite of the decline of local auto sales in 2018.
Last month, Kia Philippines, which now majority owned by Ayala Group, formally unveiled their 2019 cars for Philippine market. And I have to say that AC Automotive—the largest multi-brand dealership group and Philippine vehicle distributor of Ayala which carries Honda, Isuzu, Volkswagen, KTM, and Kia—are now on full-throttle mode catching up attention on whose brand will practically be on top priority of every car buyers. Their 1.4-liter Kia Soluto, a B-segment subcompact car that sells at P625,000 (on the entry model) is a formidable threat.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, really knows the perfect timing to counteract as the Korean car brand is set to launched next week their affordable and practical car—the all-new Hyundai Reina.
The Hyundai Reina, which made its global debut in 2017 Chongqing Motor Show, is a B-segment car that shares the same platform with the Kia Soluto. The biggest difference is the pricing. Hyundai is selling the all-new Reina at P598,000 (for the base model). Whoa!!!!!
What do we get out of it? Well, power comes from the 1.4-liter gasoline engine that provides a decent 95 horsepower rating. There are only two variants for the new Reina—the GL 5-speed manual transmission and the GL 4-speed automatic tranny.
Design is pretty much more a Hyundai DNA with the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design. The body is relatively straightforward with large hexagonal radiator grille and black mesh flanked by halogen headlamps which makes the car more exciting and fresher.
Size-wise, the all-new Reina is smaller than the Accent with only 2,570 mm wheelbase. Although, it’s only 30 mm difference; the car can still provides an ample of space and comfort.
Hyundai is positioning the Reina as an “Everyday Car.” For its price, you can get a dual SRS airbag and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Best of all, this is for both manual and automatic transmission!
We won’t go further details about the all-new Hyundai Reina as the car deserves a good review.
