The Philippine contingent will put to challenging test today for both theoretical and practical skills of two-wheelers, engine parts and lubricants for the 2018 Castrol Asia Pacific Bikes Super Mechanic Contest in Bangkok, Thailand.
The PH Team, who edged out over 300 fellow mechanic teams in fierce country level competitions, has shown their high confidence prior to departure.
“We are very happy and proud to represent the Philippines to compete against representatives from other countries in Asia Pacific contest in Thailand this year. We have prepared ourselves for months and are determined to do our best to seize the top spot for the Philippines. We want to thank Castrol for giving us the chance to showcase our knowledge and skills, get updated on the latest skill sets and connect with the regional mechanic community, also for promoting our contribution recognized by the society,” explained the group, which represented by Cebu-based Drake’s Motorcycle Parts Julius Maranga, Georekey Cantabaco and Gabriel Hidalgo Jr.
According to Shyam Balasubramanian, Asia & Pacific Regional Marketing Director of Castrol, said, “The Castrol Asia Pacific Bikes Super Mechanic Contest 2018 is the 3rd edition of this annual event and remains the most excellent pioneering platform designed to upgrade knowledge and technical expertise of motorcycle mechanics, and to showcase their talent. The technologies of motorcycles and bike oils are going up in Asia. The program, hence, is not purely an innovative contest but also has provided plenty of training and sharing sessions for thousands of mechanics to get updated on latest trends and technologies in the industries as well as improve their maintenance skills.”
Since April, the contest has started across 6 countries, namely, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines, with participation of almost 120,000 two-wheeler mechanics.
“The Castrol Asia Pacific Bikes Super Mechanic Contest 2018 is a key part of Castrol’s long-term commitment to continuously up-skill two-wheeler mechanics for the sake of their better service to their customers, and of their business growth then,” explained Balasubramanian.
