Perhaps you heard about this rumors that Nissan would bring their Navara-based SUV. Well, its official now! And its name called Nissan Terra!
According to Nissan Global, the all-new Nissan Terra is first vehicle from Nissan’s frame and LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) division under the company’s midterm plan, Nissan M.O.V.E to 2022. It’s meant only for Asian market (this include Philippines) and expected to make debut at the Beijing Motor Show in April.
Why the Navara frame? Nissan’s frame and LCV business unit, made up of frame SUVs, pickups, vans, light-duty trucks, is seen as critical to achieving the company’s midterm plan objectives. One in every six Nissan vehicles sold globally is a frame-based vehicle or an LCV, and the company is focused on capturing this division’s full potential.
On a press statement, Ashwani Gupta, senior vice president for Nissan’s frame and LCV business, said: “I’m very pleased to announce that the all-new Nissan Terra will soon arrive in China. This rugged SUV is practical, authentic, and designed to go anywhere. The Nissan Terra goes on sale this spring, first in China, with other Asian markets soon to follow.”
“Nissan’s frame and LCV business is seeing steady growth, and with our ambitious midterm plan and growing product lineup, we’re confident that this growth will continue. It is an exciting time for Nissan. We have the Nissan Terra arriving soon, the award-winning Nissan Navara is now in 133 markets worldwide, and more drivers are purchasing our LCVs around the world,” explained Gupta.
How about the looks? Upon checking the photos, it looks like a Navara on steroids! It has a huge fenders, attractive headlights, and a good muscular stance. In all aspect, you might see it as the Navara impersonator but with complete packaging. The same goes with the interior-it has a huge LCD screen with a better and elegant controls and buttons similar to Navara.
Engine-wise, we are assuming it might be the same 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with Navara. We really don’t know when is the exact arrival of the Nissan Terra but we are pretty sure that Nissan peeps would announce it at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) next month.
