According to Metro Manila Accident Recording and Analysis System (MMRAS), Motorcycles has the highest recorded number of road accidents—with 262 deaths and 11,620 injuries—from January to December 2015.

One major cause of motorcycle accidents are negligence of wearing helmet.

Motorcycle Development Program Participants’ Association (MDPPA), the country’s premier group of motorcycle manufacturers, successfully launched its second-leg of “Sticker Campaign” advocacy which encourages motorcycle riders to put stickers on their motorcycles or helmets in spreading road safety.

Dubbed as “Helmets Save Lives,” the group distributed 600 “Helmets Save Lives” stickers, banners, and road safety manuals to select motorcycle dealerships in Caloocan, which include Minerva Trading House of Motorcycle, Inc., Tres Hermanas Motor Corp., Cyclemar Caloocan Corp., and Motortrade Nationwide Corporation.

Espie Custodio, MDPPA Board Member and Marketing Committee Chairman, said, “MDPPA hopes to educate Filipino motorcyclists on how proper head gear can prevent road accidents. We hope our campaign will take Metro Manila by storm, and we are heading North, with the goal of spreading motorcycle safety awareness even in the most remote sidewalks and pavements across the region.”

To support this Road Safety Sticker campaign, motorists can upload photos of “Helmets Save Lives” stickers on their motorcycles or helmets and sharing their posts on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtags #MDPPARoadSafetyPH and #HelmetsSaveLives.
