Today, motorcycle has been one of the best alternative mobility of Filipino motorists. Despite of huge increase of motorcycle fatalities, people still preferred using two-wheels as their secondary mode of transportation.
Well, we can’t blame those people who shift into two-wheels especially if we talked about the grid of EDSA during rush hour traffic, where all vehicles looks like a huge parking lot! No wonder even our expats in today’s busy thoroughfares are starting to use two-wheels.
To spread motorcycle awareness, Caferacer.ph—the online custom bike site in the PH dedicated for Cafe racers—recently organized its own classic and custom dirt track racing and clinic at the MX Messiah Fairgrounds in Taytay Rizal.
The event dubbed as “Keep it Dirty” is the first open invitational competition to all bike builders, riders, clubs and motorcycle enthusiasts who are set to challenged their riding skills on the dirt track. The main highlight of the event includes Time Trial for 150cc (below and above), MiniBike race, Custom Bikes competition and Bike Show.
According to Mike Eijansantos, Editor-in-Chief of Cafe Racer Philippines,”Keep it Dirty is a family dirt track racing event. It was conceptualized a year ago together with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts Maki Aganon, Sam Tamayo and Mel Quino. From there, we connect and started to launch the First Philippine Flat Track Racing and Clinic.”
Eijansantos explained, “One of the first sports of motorbikes that began in the early 1920’s is done through oval dirt track, where participants composed of 6 to 8 riders are using two or four stroke engines. The sport is still celebrated today, by which now has derived in different concepts and attribution.”
“At present, dirt track racing showcases light and fun race inspired activities that involves friends and families. It’s a healthy competition with full of entertainment,” adds Eijansantos.
